Warick West, Auckland New Zealand.

The reef has only been running 1 1/2 months and already coralline has established on my cycled base rock. Live rock import is illegal into New Zealand, although it is spreading from the small amount of coral rock so far.
relatively immature tank

The very small trickle as it is basically a prefilter only with a pull out tray to exchange filter wool. The rock is doing the work and i have pre-built tray racks to replace the bio balls when the time is right. It also seems to even out spikes whilst building up the reef in my relatively immature tank.
kalkwasser drip

A kalkwasser drip system as replacement water (far left). An acrylic tube for other media (centre left) powered by a tiny eheim powerhead.eg;phosphate/occasional carbon.

I set up a nifty valve at the back which allows redirection to either or both at once.I haven't received the cd since our last mail but sure that it will arrive soon, looking forward to seeing if i have been able to replicate some of the principals gleened from the faq /advice sections of your excellent site.

The tank has a rear full length spraybar and top bar at far left for surface skimming. A raised eggcrate base(black). The circulation works fantastically as you described!.
